of course england have a half decent national football team and at times during previous years, they might even have had a good one or a great one. But given their population numbers, the impression of how good they are (having "invented" football and all) it's fair to say that football is not their high point in sports. There are plenty of other countries i could name that have much better football schools than england, besides that in your list: former ussr, spain, cheqoslovakia, germany, former yugoslavia, romania etc. etc. It's a telling fact that England has less and less english football players competing for their home league, right now being the minority, with one of their best teams having the worldwide first of being almost a team of another nationality, that is nowadays french arsenal. Also, english football players are probably the LEAST "exported" football players on the globe, and that's not because the working opportunities in england for the football player and salaries are better than most countries in the world, it's because most people would not consider investing in an english football player, because most of them are not any good. All these should be considered when talking about english football.
